Job Search

I started this search thinking that it would be very easy. I was wrong. There are thousands of jobs in this field. I saw several that I was interested in, many of which require a doctorate degree. I found a job in Hawaii unfortunately; my family wants to visit, but is not interested in moving. After hours of searching I found a job that I would like to apply for. I found a job through the following site: Indiana University Bloomington

Instructional Developer, Appalachian State University in Boone NC
The applicant is responsible for a range of duties. They include coordinating the production of instructional technology projects and materials, developing and conducting face-to-face and online faculty workshops in TLT (Teaching and Learning with Technology), assisting faculty members in the design, development, and routine support of effective web-based courses, including web content, interactive exercises, assessments, and online communication. They applicant must explore and support the use of instructional design theory, instructional technology, technology tools, and media to enhance learning and interaction. The required qualifications include a Master’s degree in Instructional Technology, Educational Media, Instructional Systems Design, Educational Psychology, or related field.

This job sounds very interesting. I would enjoy a job such as this.

I thought the same thing. Then, I got hooked on looking at possibilities.

It is amazing how they are all so closely related but so different at the same time.

I agree, it does look every interesting. It would be awesome to support professors with technology and show them best practices. It's similar to my job now, but at the college level, which I am sure brings in a whole new set of responsibilities and challenges.

I, too, was surprised to find so many job listings out there with many of them having different combinations of responsibilities for the same job title.

Very interesting. I would like to actually observe somebody in this role just to see what the interplay between this position and the university faculty is.

It seems like such a huge field, with so many opportunities. I hope it remains that way in the next few years when I am job hunting!

The job you listed sounds very interesting. I wonder if it would be tough to work with faculty members at the college level, or if most would be more open to learning about technology and applying it in their instruction?
